On 12 September at around 12:30pm an Antonov An-28, operated by Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Air Enterprise crashed while attempting to land at Palana Airport 10 out of 14 people on board were killed. All 4 survivors were seriously injured.

Investigation

An investigation by the Interstate Aviation Committee revealed that both pilots were intoxicated and that the plane was "far off course".
