Allegiant Air flight G4-737 , McDonnell Douglas MD-83 registration N405NV from Bangor to Orlando with 155 passengers and 6 crew members took off from Bangor airport and was in the initial climb when airplane suffered an engine problem and had to shut down.The crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet declared an emergency and diverted back to Bangor for a safe landing on runway 15

A passengers reported that shorty after take off airplane's engine made some loud bangs

 

On 13 November 2013 the FAA reported that N405NV on take off suffered an engine problem returned and landed without further incident
