Commutair flight C5-4811/UA-4811 , de Havilland DHC-8-200 registration N375PH on behalf of United Express from Cleveland to Toronto it was approaching Toronto when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit and declared an emergency.Airplane landed safely on runway 23

On 13 November 2013 the Canadian TSB reported that the United Express (Operating as Commutair) DHC-8-200 aircraft (N375PH, Flt. 4811) was on route and entering icing conditions. The crew turned on the windshield heat and immediately noticed one of the windows smoking with some plastic around the window melting. The crew turned off the windshield heat and declared an emergency with ATC. The aircraft performed an uneventful landing with ARFF standing by. Maintenance found a burnt screw lug terminal and loose screw that connected to the pilot's window heating element. The terminal and screw were replaced and the aircraft was returned to service.
