Iran Air flight IR-277 , Boeing 727-200 registration EP-IRP from Tehran Mehrabad airport to Urmia Iran with 93 passengers and 12 crew members it was approaching Urmia airport runway 21 under snow and fog when the crew went arround but crashed with ground 8nm southeast from airport.78 people killed and 27 injured

At the time of accident it was snow and visibility 800m

On 13 January 2011 the Iranian Transport Ministry reported that the crew approaching Urmia 5nm from runway the crew went around and announced that they are going back to Tehran.About 13nm from airport airplane turned back to airport but at 8nm from airport airplane impacted ground.The following day the Transport Ministry reported that first results from black boxes showing loss of power from engines
